Chatting with my friend, '친구랑 수다떨기'

Sep 15, 2012 Today, I spoke to my friend on a chatting site. It's been a long time since we last spoke. We couldn't chat there for 2 months because he was busy working and he spent a vacation with his family. But sometimes he kept in touch by email. I thought that he might have visited me when he was in Korea for a month. But he left Korea as soon as he finished his work because his kid was in bad shape. Anyways I was glad to meet him again. We talked a lot for about 2 hours. He tole me that he bought a new light kayak because his old canoe was so big and heavy that he had trouble carrying it by his car. I asked him if he would go to work by kayak, but he said, "No" because there is a dam in the river from his house to work. He was worried about a typhoon that is coming to the Korean peninsula. He asked me why people put tape on the windows whenever a typhoon comes. He also wondered why the taped windows could not be broken by a strong wind. I told him the reason that we just put tape on the window to reduce the damage caused by pieces of broken glass from the windows shattered by the wind. After hearing my answer, he understood. Besides that, we chatted a lot about family, oil price, lottery and so on. Most of all, I was glad to chat with him in English. ***** 오늘 저는 한 채팅 사이트에서 캐나다에서 온 친구를 만났어요. 정말 오랜만에 만났어요. 두 달 동안 채팅을 할 수 없었는데, 그 친구가 자기 일하랴, 가족들과 휴가를 보내느라 바빴기 때문이에요. 그러나 저는 가끔 메일을 통해서 친구 소식을 들었어요. 저는 그가 한국에 한 달 동안 머무르고 있는 동안 이곳을 방문하기를 기대했어요. 그러나 그는 일이 끝나자마자 한국을 떠났는데 왜냐하면 아이가 컨디션이 안 좋았기 때문이에요. 어쨌든, 저는 그를 다시 만나서 기뻤어요. 2시간 동안 얘기를 했는데, 그 친구가 가벼운 새 카약을 샀다는 거예요. 예전의 카누는 너무 크고 무거워서 차에 싣고 이동하는데 어려움을 겪었다고 하네요. 저는 그에게 카약을 타고 회사에 출근할 거냐고 물어보니 아니라고 말했어요. 왜냐하면 집에서 회사까지 가는데 강에 댐이 있어서 탈 수 없대요. 그 친구는 태풍이 한국에 오는 것을 걱정했어요. 왜 태풍이 올 때마다 사람들이 유리창에 테이프를 붙이는지 제게 물었어요. 그리고 테이프 붙인 유리창은 강한 바람에 깨지지 않는지 궁금해 했어요. 저는 그 이유를 설명했어요. 우리는 단지 강한 바람 때문에 깨진 유리창 파편에 의한 피해를 줄이기 위해서 그렇게 한다고 말했어요. 내 말을 들고 그 친구는 이해했어요. 게다가 가족, 기름 값, 복권 등에 관해서 많은 얘기를 했어요. 무엇보다도 저는 영어로 그 친구랑 수다를 떤 것이 기뻤어요.
