Korean chess, 'Janggi', '한국 장기'

Korean chess called Janggi is a traditional game of the Orient. It is played by dividing into 2 teams, Chong and Hong. The side that captures the General of the opposing team first will win the game. Janggi was a game that Buddhist monks of India in the middle of practicing asceticism. They played it when they were taking a rest for a while. It spread to China from India. The present Korean Janggi was made in China in 951~953. It spread to Korea from China during the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392). In November of 1956, 한국기도원 was founded to develop Janggi systematically and it was renamed to 한국장기원 in 1967. Its name was changed again 한국장기협회 again in 1973 and It has had that name until now. There are 16 pieces on each side: 1 漢 or 楚, 2 車, 2 包, 2 馬, 2 象, 2 士2, and 5 兵 or 卒 . 卒 or 兵 : These are basic objects that can move one space forward or one space sidewards but it cannot move backwards. . 車 : It can move in any straight line horizontally or vertically. . 包 : It has to jump straight over one piece to get an opponents piece or to move. . But it can't capture it's own object. . 象 : Moves one space straight first and then moves two spaces diagonally. . 馬 : Moves one space straight first and then moves one space diagonally. . 士 : It is put in a special square. . It can move anywhere, but only one space at a time in the special square. . 漢 or 楚 : They are put in a special square. . They can move anywhere, but only one space at a time in the special square. If either of these pieces are captured, the game is over. I can play Janggi. When I was a child, my dad taught me and my sibling how to play. We played a lot. Some strategy is required to win. Shall we play Janggi? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * 장기 장기라 불리는 한국 체스는 동양의 전통적인 게임이에요. 이것은 청, 홍 두 팀으로 나누어서 경기를 해요.상대팀의 장을 먼저 획득하는 팀이 게임에서 이겨요. 장기는 인도의 승려들이 수도생활 중에 잠깐 쉬는 틈을 타서 행하던 놀이로서 그것이 중국으로 전파되었어요. 현재의 한국 장기는 A.D 951-953 중국에서 만들어졌어요. 장기는 중국에서 한국으로 고려시대 초 전파되었어요. 1956년 11월 한국의 장기를 체계적으로 발전시키기 위해 한국기도원이 창설되었고 1967년 한국장기원으로 개칭되었으며, 1973년 한국장기협회로 개칭되어 오늘에 이르고 있어요. *** 경기하는 방법 **** 장기는 자신의 기물이 움직일 수 있는 곳에 상대의 기물이 있다면 먹을 수 있다. 장기판 위에 양편이 각각 16개의 기물(漢 또는 楚 1, 車 2, 包 2, 馬 2, 象 2, 士 2, 兵 또는 卒 5)을 각각의 자리에 배치한다. ---------------- 1.卒 또는 兵(졸) : 가장 기본적이 기물로서 앞이나 옆으로 이동할 수 있다. 뒤로는 이동할 수 없다. 2. 車(차) : 직선으로 갈 수 있는 곳이면 어디든지 갈 수 있다. 3. 包(포) : 직선상의 내것이든 상대의 것이든 기물을 하나 뛰어 넘어 어디든 갈 수 있다. 그러나 같은 상대편 기물을 먹을 수 없다. 4.象(상) : 먼저 직선으로 한칸 이동 후 같은 방향으로 대각선 투칸 이동. 5. 馬(마) : 먼저 직선으로 한칸 이동후 대각선 한칸 이동. 6. 士(사) : 특수한 사각 안에 있고 전후좌우 어디든 한칸만 움직일 수 있다. 7. 漢 또는 楚 (궁 : 특수한 사각 안에서만 이동이 가능하며 전후 좌우 어디든 움직 일 수 있다. 어느 한쪽의 궁이 죽는 순간이 게임은 끝난다. --------------- 저는 장기를 둘 수 있어요. 어렸을 때 아버지께서 제 형제들에게 장기 두는 법을 가르쳐 주셨어요. 우리는 장기를 많이 했어요. 그러나 이기는 것은 쉽지 않았어요. 이기려면 전략이 필요해요. 우리 장기 한 판 둘까요?

How to make Meju, '메주 만드는 법'

Korea also has special and traditional sauces like soy sauce (ganjang, 간장), soybean paste (doenjang, 된장), and red pepper paste (gochujang, 고추장).
